The ga lighting was utilised and the service was continued. The Huia Lodge held their secon< euchre party and dance on Friday last which was well attended. The prize were won as follows: Ladies. Mrs. Cad man 1, Miss McPherson 2, Miss Divehil 3, Miss G. Hall silent; gentlemen Mr Green 1, Mr. Flynn 2, Mr. Zadoni 3 Mr. Zadoni silent. Music was suppliei by Messrs Foster Bros, in their usua good style. Mr. H. L. Warner earriei out the duties of M.C. The committe wishes to thank Mrs. Foster and Mrs Jackson for the capable way in whic] they carried out the supper arrange s ments. w
Recently the residents of a certain locality of Utiku were greatly concerned for two or three days at the actions or an individual who was wandering through the paddocks and moving his arms in a peculiar way (says the Christchurch Press). The strain of keeping a wary eye on what appeared to be a peculiar individual became too <n-eat by the third day, on the afternoon of which the male occupant of one of the houses arrived home to find his wife sitting on the back doorstep armed with the wood-xaxe and keeping a scared eye on tho strange-acting person • so he rang up for the police. The latter arrived per motor-car, aifd it was only when the individual who had been the cause of all the excitement yv«s nointed. out that it was discovered that he was no one more harmful than the waWdiviner engaged by the Taihape Dairy Company to locate water on the proposed site of the new dairy factory.
