Owing to the required number of bookings not having been made, the proposed trip to Sydney, organised by the Chamber of Commerce, has been abandoned for the present.—News. "All vaccinated?" queried a member of the Acclimatisation Society when the information was being given of the fish and birds liberated. "Neither vaccinated nor earmarked," rejoined the chairman, "but well and truly laid." In the course of his remarks at the annual meeting of the Acclimatisation Society, Mr. B. C. Bennett said that rainbow trout had been put into all the lakes as far south as Waverley, and these were giving good snort. A successful eucV-re party and dance was held under the auspices 6¥ the Huia, Lodge at the Foresters' Hall last evening. The prize-winners amongst the ladies were Mesdames O'Dowd and Fitzsimmons and Misses Nolan and Peters. The gentlemen's prizes were won by Messrs Burgess, . Sharrock, Hearn and Hazeltr.:- For the dancing music was provided by Foster Bros., and an extra was played by Miss G. Frank. Messrs Warner and Hearn carried out the duties of card M.C.'s, and ■Messrs Warner and Castles acted in a similar capacity for the danoe.
