FIVE LIVES LOST.
LAUNCH CAPSIZES

Joss or five lives was involved in a fatality which occurred on Tairua bar, some 20 miles from Mercury Bay, at about 9 o'clock on Saturday evening. A resident of Tairua fell overboard from ! the launch Elida while crossing the bar, and in unsuccessful attempts to rescue the unfortunate man, the Aucklandowned launch Lorraine capsized,, and four of its occupants were also drowned. The names of the victims are: W. Sutherwood, of Newton Road, Auckland, owner of the Lprraine; H. Chappeli, of Valley Road, Mount Eden; T.. Culhane, of Hopetoun Street Auckland ; N. Robson, of Arthur Street, Ponsonby, Auckland, and Otel Rolandson, of Tairua, who was lost overboard from the launch Elida. Three other -occupants from the launch Lorraine who were saved, were: W. Walsh, of John Street, Ponsonby; T. Jenkins, of Auckland, and Tilston Corywright, of Tairua, ' and Tilston of the launch Elida, besides the deceased Rolandson, were Harold and Cyril Corywright and T.
