Robinson w-ps getting up in years, and vhe did not like to be disturbed during ; his night's rest unless there was genuine necessity. So he thought he had put . the matter very plainly to Jackson, his ■; new "hand," as they cammed at night i when he said, "I don't to be 'aroused, Jackson, if the white heifer or the brindle bullock or the black j and white bullock breaks away. You . keep watch and lot me sleep on. I've got a weak heart, and I must have a . good long rest every night. Now, re- . member., don't wake me up, unless of j coarse, the whole mob clears out.' 3 Jack son promised, and Robinson went to sleep in the waggon. "Mr. Robinson! Mr, Robinson!'' called Jackson an hour or two later. "The white heifer's gone." "Now, didn't I tell you, Jackson, not to disturb me because the white heifer broke away,'» complained Robinson from the waggon. "I've explained to you that I have a weak heart." Robinson was again fast asleep ': when he was awakened' by Jackson's ' shout, "The brindle bullock's cone off." ; Robinson again rebuked Jackson for disturbing him. but a third time he was aroused from sleep to be informed that the black and white bullock had broken away. "Haven't I told you that i 1 have a weak heart?'' growled Robin-i son. "Anyone would think that the' whole mob had gone." "So they have," said Jackson eagerly. "They've been, gone about four hours.
