PEACE MEMORIAL COMMITTEE
TENDER ACCEPTED
A meeting of the Peace Memorial Committee was held in Mr. Sage's office this morning, when there were present: The^ Mayor (Mr. E. Dixon), chair, and Messrs. Hafrop; Crighton, Cox, H. L. Spratt, Cbrrigan, Gillanders, Sage, Duffill and Gibson. Tenders for the memorial arch to be erected in the section adjoining the Soldiers' Club wsre opened. Out of five tenders that of AValpole and Patterson, of Wanganui (the lowest), was accepted. The committee adjourned to the site in order to locate the position of the arch. It was decided to place it 12 feet back, from the street and in the centre of the area between the old technical school section and the Loan and Mercantile Company's premises. The committee, after paying the contract price. and ; expenses will have a small sum of money in hand which will probably bjeus^d to beautify the site. .
