j The annual meeting of the Men's' •Club, though not so hugely attended, as' . was hoped, Was Tlairjy representative, j considering that.a"number of a^olo^ies'• from prominent enthusiasts were°re-j ceived. Every iidicat-on is present of. j , a mightygbod season this year. . Messrs! Wright (2) have joined, and Messrs j Quin (2)' and Pulley are still members,! so that the team when •'travelling' will {■ , be pretty strong, arid will give the club an opportunity to /shape well against \. any ot the clubs on the /coast. -.- j , A \vell-irieiited tribute of apprecia-' tiori was. given ..tp- Mr Tonks. for his1 practical interest in the affairs of the club, which resulted in so; good a sum-7. mer season. The, result also is that! play can* start at once, fairway and'/ greens being in particularly good or-' der. The 3 good work, of. the captai.nl (MrF.W, button) and of -the commit- !/■ tee was also freely recognised. A word i of special commendation was also, given to the groundsman for his good work. 7 "Instructions," said the skipper, "are carried out at once, and this is very j satisfactory." Mr H. A. Foyster, who was the original secretary of'the club, was, at the / annual meeting, elected a member, of; the committee.; 7 ; ' ;.•;■. These will serve very much to stimulate competition. j Annual meetings of golf clubs are now being held in Australia, i-nys un© Referee. Financial.- v considerations generally come under review at this period. The increasing values of land /wherever a golf coxirse is created makes a problem for the golf club to solve sooner or later. After all, is not the | best solution increased annual subscription for membership?
