The evidence was a denial that any such threat was made. , ihe greater portion of the morning was taken up with evidence refuting that natives were treated to drink at. the Muir mine during Pomare s meeting there. George Muir, manager of Muir's Goldmining Company, denied that any. whisky was served to natives 3 either3ih7 the house or outside, and; ; any statement to the contrary was an absolute'falsehood. ! witnesses were examined as to thealieged occurrence and asserted that*. nothing of the kind took place. (for * the petitioner) said that two girlswho were 7 alleged to have served liquor had not I been seen smce the occurrence, and the Rench decided to summon them to attend the Court.
