TARANAKI POWER BOARD.
MONTHLY MEETING
The monthly meeting of the Taranaki Power Board was held at Eltham yesterday, when there were present: Messrs H G. Carman (chair), C. J. Belcher, W. H. Weir, C. E. McGuinness I*. R. Anderson and W. V Harkness.
An apology for absence was received from Mr G. Sangster. The Kaponga Town Board wrote advising that should the Taranaki Board give serious consideration to the suggestion made by Mr Birks to the Taranaki chairman, of purchasing a temporary supply of electricity for the .igntmg or Eltham Borough from Kaponga, a committee of the Kaponga lioard had been appointed to meet representatives of the Taranaki Board to discuss the matter.
Mr Carman said he had met the chairman of the Kaponga Town Board in regard to the Taranaki Board taking a temporary supply of bower from Kaponga. The Kaponga Board was quite willing to either supply and do their own collecting, or supply the power by meter, and the Taranaki Board do their own charging and collecting. The Board, in any case to do their own reticulation. Mr Carman mentioned that the Kaponga Board had no night load, and Mr Birks had suggested that they should run their lines right into Eltham. Mr Carman said that he had told the Kaponga Board that that phase of the matter had nrtt come before the Taranaki Board yet. Be therefore suggested that the Kaponga Board set up a committee to meet a committee of the Taranaki Board. The latter was the outcome.
Some discussion followed, and a committee consisting of the chairman and I Messrs Anderson and McGuinness was ! set up to meet the Kaponga Committee. ' The same committed was authorised to deal with other sources of suuply. Mr Belcher mentioned that the offer of the Eltham Dairy Company in regard to the disposal of some of their powor still, held good. Like Kaponga, the company, had 110 night load, and the whole of this load was available to the Power Board. The chairman and secretary reported in connection with the proposed extension of the Tariki scheme to the Waimate West County. It was stated that the Department now 7 favoured the southern districts being included in the Taranaki Board's scheme. Mr1 Anderson thought that the south--em people were keen to come in with them, and he suggested calling a meeting to see what could be done. A committee consisting of the chairman and Messrs Belcher, McGuinness and Anderson was appointed to po further into the matter of the extension of the Board's area south.
