HIBERNIAN SPORTS COMMITTEE

The Manaia Hibernian Sports Committee met on Tuesday night, and a considerable amount of business was put through in connection with the championship sports next Wednesday and Thursday. The secretary stated that Manaia business premises had decided to close at 11 a.m. on Wednesday and 12 noon on Thursday: A hearty vote of thanks was accorded the Otakeho Farmers' Union for the loan of their hurdles. It was resolved that the secretary write to the various school committees in the district, asking them to give the children a holiday for the sports. The Eltham Pipe Band was engaged for the second day of the sports. Mr. D. Malone, of Kaponga, was appointed lap steward for the bicycle events. A working bee was appointed for Monday, and Tuesday at 11 a.m. The Executive Committee will meet on Monday night and the General Committee on Tuesday night at 8 o'clock.
