BRITAIN'S OIL SUPPLY.

THE MACEDONIAN RIGHTS

LONDON, .Nov/ 24. | The oil rights recently obtained over : the whole of Macedonia by the .Anglo- j Persian Oil Company, which is con-; trolled *nd chiefly owned by the British Government, seem likely to come into international prominence in the near future. _t wiil be remembered these trights were acouired through the perseverence of Mr G. L. Tacon (Christchurch), wh/ri riealised the great possibilities, of the area when he was in the , country during the war., j Several additional important oil seepages distributed over a wide area have ireeently been discovered. A (strong geological party is being despatched to Macedonia by ihe AngloT_*ersian Company at the end of this month, which will be accompanied by Mr Tacon as a director \of the concern. This first-j party is to be'followed about a month j later by a second, in which will be the . chief £f ologist 'df the"company. i If,. as is confidently expected^ the researches of these geologists warrant it, ' drilling for Oil wi]l be undertaken |t the earliest moment, and should oil in •commercial / quantity be developed in Macedonia, Britain will have the only oilfield in the Mediterranean on tbe world's greatest trade route, and its fuel supply there will "be assured. j
