PRESENTATION.

TO POPJJLAR POSTAL OFFICER. To-day at the Hawera Post Office occasion was taken by the Post and Telegraph staff to saye farewell and to make a presentation to Mr Hewitt, who has been postmaster here for somo yoa". The presentation was made by Mr CunnQld, acting-postmaster, who in well chosen words expressed the regret felt by all the staff at Mr Hewitt's departure, and wished him and Mrs Hewitt and family all success and happiness m their new home. He then presented Mr Hewitt with a handsome silver entree dish. In a neat and brief speech Mr Hewitt thanke^all for their good wishes and the kindly thought that prompted the gift. It was an occasion he and Mrs Hewitt would never forget, and one! winch they would treasure all their lives. r It may be stated that Mr Hewitt has tiled many positions during his departmental career, amongst , which were the positions of chief clerk at Thames, relieving postmaster and postmaster at Taumarunui and Hawera. Mr Hewitt expects to leave Hawera for Piriaka on +1> a^V te,\ ding t0 take UP farming' at the latter place, where he has owned property for some years.
