There was a large attendance. Maclaren, Hill-Wood and Tyldesley were omittted from the Enghsn team, which was captained by Hartley. Collins was specially attractive, and hit hard all round the wicket without the ghost of a chance Lambert gave a merry display while there, while Shepherd played a splendid innings. He gave one or two •hances, but his batting was stylish, and his partnership with Dacre was invaluable Dacre also hit hard and often.
