■ *- ) GIRL CLIMBER. KILLED. VBT TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION.} A TAURANGA, Jan. o. A distressing fatality occurred at Mount Maunganui (near Tauranga) a watering place, yesterday afternoon. Iwo young ladies and a young man white bathing pulled out in a dinghy to ( a rabbit island a short distance, from I i the beach, and essayed to climb a precipitous cliff. Miss Winnifred Hal- I combe, aged seventeen, fell a considerable distance ta the rocks below and I was killed. The cries of her compan- • ion,. Miss Lysaght, were heard by a ' launch party fishing m the vicinity, who rescued her by means of ropes. They also recovered Miss Halcomb's •' body. The town of Halcombe was i named after deceased's grandfather. ! i
