RUSSIA.

— 9 j MODEL COLONY ESTABLISHED. FORTIFYING AGAINST REDS. BY OAMitr- PEfcSS ASSOCIATION—COPYEIGHT (Received Jan. 4, 9.50 a.m.) LONDON, Jan. 3. Admiral Stark's fleet consists of two cruisers and half a dozen gunboats and destroyers, as well as several tramp steamers filled with considerable num-1 bers of infantry, women, children, live j stock and provisions. One report | states that Admiral Stark landed at ai small port on the Kamschatka coast, where he established a model colony, and is fortifying the passes leading inland to prevent the Reds'from attacking him. He constructed large barracks, and the forests provide him with all the fuel and building material needed. Game is abundant, and the skins of bears will provide the members of the colony with abundant warm clothing and siecping bags for women and children. Unfortunately the Bolsheviks do not recognise the romance of the venture and denounce the Admiral with considerable heat as a traitor. They have broadcasted messages declaring that if he surrenders before January he will be granted a full amnesty. Admiral Stark commanded Russia's Port Arthur fleet at the outbreak of the Russo-Japanese war.—United Service.
