GRAVE CHARGES.
BODY OF CHILD FOUND. "I 03Y TELEGRAPH—PRiyss ASSOCIATION ) WELLINGTON, Jan. 3. A sensational discovery was made by the police while making inquiries at JSewlands, near Johnsonville, seven miles from Wellington, following an investigation into charges made against Daniel Richard Cooper and Martha Elizabeth Cooper, for having attemptchild ot Harold Hope and Lily Lister Cooper. Ihey are also charged with ; another serious offence. A party of policemen were detailed to search the building and property, and a f.er searching the house the police turned their attention to a twoacre section. Nine constables made excavations over the property and discovered the decomposed body of a child said to be two months old, about 30 IhX KmX m *X Jesidence. in a hole about three feet deep and surrounded D- v a clump of native trees. The police are continuing dicainc operations It is stated that as a result ot information obtained by the police, the particular locality has been under surveillance for some time Cooper was postmaster at Newlands, which is a sparsely populated district
