A seven-roomed house, luxuriously tarnished, owned and occupied by Mr Kemble Welch, dentist, of Masterton," situated at Lansdowne, was destroyed by fire to-night. The water supply in this suburb Avas of extremely low pressure, and the brigade's efforts were fruitless to effect a save, the bunding being completely demolished. Mi^ Welch and his wife are in Wellington lor the- holidays. Tlie cause of the outbreak is unknown. The insurances are.not available, but it is believed the building is covered.
