NEW YORK, Jan. 2. The Herrin massacre trial was resumed at Marion, Illinois. Witnesses for the defence testified that the mine guards had often interfered with the villagers and the miners' peaceful tasks, menacing them with a display of arms. During the day of the fight they saw guards fire to kill miners without provocation.
