NEW YORK, Jan. 2. 1 A total of 22,400 mercantile firms in the United States failed during 1922, the largest in any year of the country's history. Their liabilities amounted to 646,955,000 dollars, and their assets were slightly more than 56 per cent. — Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
