OPUNAKE CLUB.

(From Our Own Correspondent.)

Through the generosity of Mrs G,. W.-Rogers in placing her lawn at the" disposal of the Croquet Club it has been made possible to reorganise this popular sport. The official opening wascelebrated on Wednesday last under perfect weather conditions, and a largeattendance of players and visitors. Mrs: O'Brien (president) thanked Mrs; Rogers on behalf of the club for her generosity, and also expressed the hopethat an enjoyable season's play would be obtained by members. She then asked Mrs Rogers to formally open the play by driving the first ball through the hoop. Afternoon tea was supplied, by the members of the club, and a most pleasant afternoon was spent \>vr all present.
