RAILWAY FREIGHTS

(By Telegraph—Special to Star.) : welmngton; Oct. 31. It was suggested to the Minister for Agriculture by Mr. Poland that similar be given in rail freights on dairy produce as had been given to frozen meat. The Holn. D. H. Guthrie repliedThat had the Dairy Control Bill < been passed the board would have made such representations to him. The rail- < way frefghts on dairy produce had in- ! creased since 1914 by 80 per cent. The reduction in meat freights equalled 30 per. cent. The possibility of a reduction in dairy freights was under the department's consideration, i Mr. Witty asked why the Minister had to wait for 'the formation of the meat board before making the reductions. - The Hon. D. H. Guthrie: The railways are suffering yery serious losses and we are not going out of our way to make reductions unless there are representations.
