' Mr. J. J. O'Shea, the popular stationmaster of New Plymouth, has received, still another advancement, and is to take charge at Palmerston North. Many have watched Mr. O'Shea's progress from that of a junior clerls at an obscure station to his present position, and it shows what perseverence and application to duty may accomplish. At a gathering of railway servants held to honour him, Mr. O'Shea reviewed the growth of the traffic during the past few years owing to the visit of big ships to the port, and stressed the value of the port to New Plymouth. He predicted expansion of the railway yards and a duplication of the line to nMoturoa in the •near future.
