CHORUS OF 1000.
WELSH "SING-SONG" LED BY TEMPLE CHUTR. (From an English Correspondent.) The choir of the famous Temple Church, London, raised the excitement of a "Welsh audience at Biyn Tanat to fever heat when they sang, under Dr. Walford Davies, the Welsh melody, "The Rising of the Lark," in English. A pavilion erected by Mr. W. H. i Leslie, president of the North Mont- ' gomeryshire Musical Association, was ■ packed with 100 people. Lord Harleclt i was. one of the audience, j Though the ewnt had been nnnounced as a. concert. Dr. Davies turned it into a "sing-song," with the
Temple Choir leading and the people joining in the choruses. Dr. Davies invited the Vicar of Llanfihangel (the Rev. J. JR.. Roberts) to mount the platform and conduct the audience in the singing of "The Risin^ of the Lark" in Welsh. The effect was electrical. Again and again, until late into the night, the crowd repeated this melody and other favourite songs. The London choristers, in their holiday tour of Wales, demonstrating how church music should be sung, have had a splendid welcome.
