Bishop Brodie ,-was-welcomed back, after a ten months' absence overseas, at, a gathering of 2000 people in the Catholic Cathedral last night. After the service addresses ; of welcome were tendered in the Cathedral/grounds. Bishop Brodie, replying, said tne Pope j expressed amazement at the fact that J the Catholics of Christchurch in the la,st five years- had spent £100,000 in education. Bishop Brodie said he believed that no part of the world was doing more proportionately than the Christchurch diocese in the matter of education.
