WEDNESDAY MATCHES.
The Hawera "A" team spent a very pleasant afternoon on the Manaia ground yesterday. The wicket was hardly as good as the visitors expected, while the outfield was rough. Hobday was in the best form for Manaia, and showed some very nice strokes. Horton batted nicely, and was unfortunate to lose his wicket in the way he did. His bowling was also good, but he had no luck. Worrall -made his runs in dashing style. The team were entertained to afternoon tea by lady friends of the Manaia Club, which was much appreciated. They desire to thank the ladies for the way in which they catered for the teams.
