' "F I AT" npHE Greatest Motor Road Race in ... the world is the French Grand Prix, and it is the greatest ambition of the foremost motor car manufacturers to "win it. As evidence of the creative genius of Italian motor car builders and illustrating the wonderful advance made in recent years in motor ear design, this year's event, held last July, is a striking testimony. Seventeen ears,. representing the world's best, started on the gruelling test of 500 miles, and it was won-.by.a 15.9 h.p. 6-cylinder FIAT at a speed of 79.3 miles per hour, only two other cars finishing. The car was driven at this terrific speed for 500 miles in 6 hours 17 minutes. The performance was repeated a month later in the Italian Grand Prix on a 373-mile circuit on a speedway at Milan, and the first, second, third and | fourth places were taken by the same kind of 15.9 h.p. FIAT car at an average speed of the four cars of 83 miles i per hour. Some years ago it would have taken ■ cars of 150 h.p. to put up such a performance, and this year's results com- I pletely establish the value of the light car of' first-class design, such as the FIAT. We are landing shortly a Sport's Model 4-cylinder 12-16 h.p. FIAT, which is the product of FIAT'S racing experience, and we will be pleased to show it to anyone interested. It has a range of 5 to 65 miles per hour on top gear, marvellous acceleration and hillclimbing powers, and will do .45 miles per gallon of petrol and 2000 miles per gallon of oil, and brakes, steers and rides perfectly at all speeds, being absolutely easy and simple to control.
