BY CABLE—TRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT

Received Oct. 9, 9.15 am

: BERLIN, Oct. 8. During the trial of those accused of Dr. Rathenau's murder, Erwin Behren's uncle, Ernst Techow, told the court of his terrible mental struggle "before deciding to give up his nephew to the police. When he learned from the newspapers that the police wanted the nephew as one of the murderers, he went to his nephew's room and handed him a revolver, saying: "Go into the wood and shoot yourself, so that this shame on our family will be expiated?' The nephew replied: "I'm not the murderer; I only-drove the car." Behrens subsequently locked the nephew in his room and telephoned to the police. He has since received many thre(a.tening anonymous letters from Monarchists.

The trial was suspended owing to the illness of several of the accused who, it is said, have been poisoned by sweets sent Ibo the prison. The suspected organisation of which the accused are members is "attempting to ■prevent the revelation of its operations. —Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
