The Blenheim produce merchants j (states the Express) have been advised that the rate of the shipping freight on chaff is to be further reduced as from this week by twopence per sack, equal to 4s per ton. This reduction , brings the charge down to £2 per ton ..on shipments from Picton to Onehunga, and £2 10s in the trade from Blenheim to Auckland. The demand from the North Island for chaff has increased of late, and stocks are now moving off —as they have been for the last few weeks —with an activity that is a very acceptable contrast to the conditions existing a couple of montns ago. The price remains at 55s"pe'r ton to the farmers.
