WHY HE RAN AWAY.
Two boys were fishing on a certain j estate when; a gamekeeper darted out j suddenly from behind a hedge. The I boys started to run. They took differ- j ent directions, but the gamekeeper followed the one who shouted and seem- j ed most frightened. After a long pursuit the boy was captured, mit." sarcl the keeper. "No, I haven't," replied the boy, "You've been fishing without a peranrl, to th© amazement of the gamekeeper, T>roclueed a permit. The gamekeeper looked at it and found it in order. "Why on earth did you run away?" he asked angrily; I "To let the other boy get clear; ho hasn't got a permit,' 1 was the reply.
