TENNIS.

■ 'I Appearances seem to promise a long I

j and good season. Grounds are in good order, and plenty of playing area, is | available for all new players who are i likely to join. Both clubs have now , strong membership, and look forward ! with confidence to the next six months to bring success greater than any yet achieved. i The grounds at the Park make one recall with interest the scheme of the Bayly Park Company, which was formed about twenty-^four years ago,, the ■ genesis of which was to have one home for all sports. At that time cricket, j tennis, football (there was no hockey), ; cycle racing, and other sports all were | located at Bayly Park. One by ©no ' they left^ got out of the scheme, until cricket ploughed its lonely furrow, and eventually that went out, and Bayly .Park as formed was no more. The visit which the New South Wales ladies' team is to_jnake to New Zealand this season is arousing a great deal of interest, and already several associations ai-e arranging tournaments to fit in with the tour of the visitors. They visiting team is"~expe:ted to arrive at Axiekland on December it or 12, and will play a match against a team of Auckland ladies. They will then take a; run through the Hotorua and Taupo districts, and will arrive at Hastings on December 21, which will allow them to get in a full day's practice for the New Zealand championship meeting, which will commence at Hast_ ings on Boxing Day. The New South Wales ladies will then go dn to Wellington., and will play a match against the New Zealand ladies' team in the first week in 'January; A match against a . South Island team will follow at Christchurch in the second week in January, and the remainder of- the programme will depend on how long the visitors can remain in the Dominion. No definite information regarding the duration of' the stay of the visitors has yet been received, from the New South Wales Lawn Tennis Association.
