TOWN BOARD. A special meeting' of the newlyelected Town Board was held on Tuesday, Commissioners Hurliman, Coad,Bennett, McEwen and Peach being present. clerk took the chair and asked for nominations for chairman; On the motion of Comrs. Hurliman and Peach Comr. Coad was appointed chairman.

Oh taking the chair Comr. Coad thanked the board for the honour conferred and trusted that the board would work well, together.:,. There was a lot to be done and the board would have to study economy for a time and must do the best they could to make the town more attractive.

The following committees were appointed, the. chairman being a member of all:—Works: Comrs. Hurliman and McEwen. Country and Domain: Comrs. Peach and Bennett. Finance: Comr. Bennett.

On the motion of Comrs. Peach and , Bennett the chairman and clerk were authorised to sign cheques, and the I third Tuesday" in each month was. the | day fixed for the monthly meeting at 7.30 p.m. sharp. The chairman and Comr. Hurliman were appointed a committee to confer with the Tennis Club re site for courts. CRICKET CLUB. The meeting called to consider the formation of a Cricket; Club was unfortunately hut poorly attended, Mr. McEwen being chairman. After discussion it was decided to form a club,'! and a meeting will he held later, when it is hoped there will, be a large .attendance so that office-hearers can be elected and financial" arrangements made. A good number of young players have expressed their willingness to join and. with the help of the old hands, there is no. reason why Nor--manby should not raise a fair team I Messrs. McEwen, Paine and Slinger will be pleased to hear from anyone wishing to join. WIRELESS TELEGRAPHY. ' A meeting of local wireless enthusiasts, convened by J. Norfolk, junr., was held in the Town Hall last Wednesday, when it was unanimously decided to form a wireless club. Mr. L. Row- ; son, of Hawera, was present and gave all the members a very instructive and interesting address. It a* decided to confine the energies !of th^ Hub to instruction :n the theory of wi/c"ess telegraphy. Later on it is hoped to instal a receiving set, etc. The following office-bearers were elected, subject to their consent: Patron, Mr. C. J. Preston; president, Mr. C. Coad; vicepresidents, Messrs G. H. Mills, A. *"" Paine, W. S. Poole, L. Rowson. 1<; Pidgeon. G. Galloway; executive com- ' mittee, Messrs J" Norfolk, junr., Whyte, . A. Galloway, A. \ Paine, S. Ponsford, F. Mills; secretary, Mr. J. Norfolk, junr.; treasurer, Mr. P. Mills. Before going into committee those present accorded Mr. Rowson a very heartyv vote of thanks, and in reply he assured the members of the club that he would at any time be willing to assist them. .
