SALE OF PEDIGREE JERSEYS.
HIGH PRICES REALISED.
The annual sale of two-year-old.pedi-gree Jersey heifers on account of i Messrs A. and J. O'Donneil was held ! in the Egmont A. and P. show grounds ! yesterday. A large and representative ; number of, dairy farmers were in ati tendance, and. there was spirited com-i-petition^-for the various lots offered. j The. heifers entered the ring in ex- : cellent condition, and the majority ; were showing up well. Some were, i however, backward, and for these : lower .prices prevailed. Considering j the adverse times, the prices realised j must be considered extremely satisfac- ! Tory, reflecting the opinion of fanciers .on the quality. of the stock offered. Many flattering references weire made concerning both the; quality and type jof the stock submitted by the yen- _ ! dors at their annual sales, and the:^. i success of this sale is a solid! appreelaj tion of thtf efforts of all who are en- ; deavouring to improve the Jerseybreed in this district,, and" is a' distinct proof of its popularity. The market was topped by M'ifanwy of ftosy Creek, a beautiful heifer by Rainbow's King ouf of Mifanwy, which cow is consideried one of the best type's in the Dominion.
