LAND AGENTS CONFER.
ATTACKS RESENTED.
The Dominion Estate Agents and | Land Auctioneers' Association dis-' cussed quite a large number of topics I of interest to land agents at their ; annual meeting last week. Tk© appointment of commissions to inquire | into land subjects was referred to in a remit, and the delegates decided that representations should be mad* to the Government to appoint an official member of the affiliated associations to such commissions, and it was suggested that such an appointment should jie made in respect of the proposed commision to deal with lands held under the Discharged Soldiers' Settlement Act. A matter that gave rise to considerable discussion was contained in a remit from South Canterbury, in which it was suggested that_ steps should be taken to protest against the press reporting detrimental and unfair matters relative to a land agent's profession. It was stated that the land agents had been blamed for the inflated values of land, and tney had been accused of exploiting the market and forcing up values. It was pointed out that land agents, like lawyers and others, must do their utmost for their i clients, and in selling real estate it was the duty of the agent to get the best griee possible. The association decided to approach the Newspaper Proprietors' Association on the subject.
