WEEKLY SITTING
1 The weekly sitting of the Hawera ' t Magistrate's Court was presided over by Mr A. M. Mowleni, S.M., this morning. His Worship stated that he : had been in communication with Mr. Burton, S.M., who would preside over the Hawera Court next Thursday. Mr i Barton, S.M., who had been pert manently appointed to Wanganui, . would not reach that town until Aug- « ust 22. His Worship said that it seemed plain that Tuesday would no longer be the court day for Hawera, as Tuesday was the day fixed for the •■ holding of the Wanganui Court. j Owing to the pending magisterial changes no defended cases likely to ex- ' J tend over one court day were taken j to-day.
BY-LAW CASES. Frank Williamson was charged by the police with riding a bicycle along South Road after sunset without a light. Defendant pleaded guilty, and was convicted and fined 10s and court costs 7s. Trevor Dowdle was charged with riding a. bicycle along Victoria - Street after sunset without a light Defend ant pleaded guilty and was convicted and fined 10s and 7s court costs. John McLeod was charged with leaving a motor car in Collins Street at 6.35 p.m. without lights. Defendant, who pleaded guilty, said that someone must have turned his lights off. Defendant was convicted and fined £land /s court costs. Allan Munro was charged with leaving a motor car in Victoria Street, such car not showing any lights. Defendant did not appear, 'and was con victed and fined £1 and 7s costs.
