The State Department has received confirmation of the reported kidnapping by bandits of the acting American Consul Jova at Sugua, La Grande, Cuba. Jova was held for 2000 dollars ransom, but escaped and returned to Cuba badly wounded by-a knife. The Cuban Government immediately sent a force to apprehend the bandits, and their capture is expected soon.
