MAORI MATCH AT NORMANBY.

There was a great crowd of natives in the town on Wednesday, when the Ketemarae and Taihonorhenui native football team played one from Okaiawa and .Waimate. The gaane throughI (out -wo*} strenuous, with occasional brilliant play, Okaiawa eventually winning by 15 points to 8. For. the winners, Tamanui, W. Epae, and Skinner secured tries. Heke converted the first, and Rangi scored from a mark. ! For Ketemarae, Sky Tumahuki scored, •and Wilkinson converted. Kahu also scored. Mr Phelan carried the whistle.
The visitors and friends to the number of 63 were entertained at Sinner at the Normanby Hotel, and in the evening a most successful social and dance was held in the Town Hall. During the evening Rangi Enae sang "Oh! Little Maori Maiden," and a duet with Tui Nuku, which were well received. These matches and entertainments are .proving very popular, bringing many visitors to the town, and the natives deserve great credit for the very orderly manner in which they conduct themselves. Another and more important match will be held here next Wednesday, due notice of which will be given in the Star. SCHOOL MATCH. Last week the Okaiawa school thirds visited Normanby and played a game with the local little fellows, and a really good game resulted in a draw— 6 -points each. For Normanby, Pepperell scored twice.
