* f (From Our Own Correspondent.) FOOTBALLERS' BALL. The ball given by the local Football Club, on Thursday evening was again a most pronounced success. There was a very large attendance, all the surrounding districts being well represented. Mr G. Hurley, the, secretary, and his committee had made most complete arrangements, and everything passed off without a hitch. The floor was in fine order, and the hall and supper room were beautifully decorated with ferns, flowers, evergreens, photographs, and football emblems. The work in this de-~ partment was very artistic, the club's colours being prominent throughout. The supper was in the caoable hands of the ladies, and left nothing to be desired. The club is certainly under a, debt of gratitude to its lady supporters for their valuable assistance in this connection, and also in the work of decorate ing. McCarty's orchestra, the popular Kaponga combination, supplied excellent music, while ai number of extras were well played by several visitors. The duties of M.C. were well carried out by Messrs G. Hurley, D. Johnston, and W. Martin. PERSONAL. Mr and Mrs T. Allan, of Mataou. are taking up their residence here shortly on the farm owned by Mr W. R. Wood, of hew Plymouth. Mrs Allan is a wughter of Mr Wood, and lived here with her parents some years ago. I
