Regarding the opening of Arthur's Pass tunnel, Mr. Massey said it was ■just possible some of the material required for the completion of the.tunnel might,be delayed through the serious strike of engineers in England. Everything else was ready, and if tte machinery and* appliances mentioned came to hand the opening of the tunnel could be effected by Christmas.
