A Hospitals Association deputation asked the Chief Secretary fo r fianciai assistance m the direction of some compulsory system. It was suggested that the Government pay £ for £. A conference of hospitals decided that in j the event of a compulsory system being adopted, each district be allowed the right of continuing the voluntary system if it wished. Mr Oaks replied that the Department was hard put to to cope with demands, but promised an investigation to ascertain ways ana means.
