SECRET PACT.
ITALY AND KEMALISTS.
BY CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT
LONDON, May 2
The Pall Mall Gazette says that Italy, following the French example of immoral underhand bargaining, has made a secret political pact with the Kenialists. The Italians do not deny that they obtained unsolicited offers and concessions, but they say Italy has given no promises in return. The Pall Mall Gazette says this is untrue, as Italy is supporting the Turkish position at Genoa, including the claim for Adrianople. Turkey was lured into the secret pact by fear that France otherwise would capture the most valuable railway, mining and irrigation concessions. The Daily Telegraph says Britain protested to the Italians against the economic agreement, which Italy officially admits, but the Telegraph believes a secret political pact also exists.
