LARGE SUM INVOLVED

(BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION.) WELLINGTON, May 3. At the Magistrate's Court to-day, William Henry Pollock, who some years ago was a leading athlete, and has lately been secretary to Nelson Moate, Ltd., pleaded guilty to charges of the theft of moneys of the firm totalling £927. It was stated wiring the evidence that the total amount misappropriated was £2741. Pollock had control of practically the whole of the financial business of the company, and the defalcations extended over a period of six or seven years. Accused had surrendered himself to the police, as he desired to clear the matter up. He was committed to the Supreme Court for sentence. Bail was allowed in £500.
