EGMONT CLUB'S MEETING
The twenty-first annual general meeting of this club was held on Saturday last, when a large number of members were present, Mr. J. H. Baker, the president, being in the chair.' The secretary reported that, after payment of a few accounts amounting to £3 2s 6d, the balance in hand was £36 19s Bd, a position on which the club were to be congratulated. There were also a few items still to come in, wliich would bring the balance up to about £40. It was decided that the club donate £1 ls towards the memorial fund inaugurated by the association to perpetuate the memory of the late Mr. Donald McDonald.
In re-electing the president, Mr J. H. Baker, the meeting paid a welldeserved tribute to that gentleman, who has been- a member of the club since its inception, and who has worked so hard to place the club in its present satisfactory position. Mr. Baker, in again accepting office, said that he felt honoured to occupy the position, and recalled some previous annual meeting**? which had not been so satisfactory as the present one, as some of these present could testify, they having had to pass the hat round on several occasions to make up deficiencies, which they happily had not to do now. He felt that the club had a very successful future before it.—Mr. E. A. Nixon, Mr. A. L. Campbell, and Mr. Baker paid well-deserved tributes to Mr. and Mrs. Robert Hicks, who have for many years •done a great deal to help the "club, often under most unfavourable conditions, and they thought that, as a mark of appreciation the club should.appoint both Mr. and Mrs. Hicks life members, a suggestion which was heartily endorsed by all present, who carried the motion with acclamation.: , The club having decided to hold a trial during the Winter Show week, the' following*prizes were provided for competition: First, £20; second, £8; third, £5; fourth, £2, and a special prize of £5 for the man scoring most points who has never won a first prize in an open event. The A. and P. Association have kindly agreed to the-trials being run on the show grounds, and full details will be published in connection with the Winter Show. I
On behalf of the club the president thanked the secretary, Mr. Tiddy, for the way in which he had carried out his duties, and the meeting voted him a handsome cheque as a mark of its appreciation.
