OPUNAKE.

(From* Our Own Correspondent.)

There was a large attendance at the concert held in the theatre on Thursday evening in aid of the funds of the Convent candidate in the forthcoming carnival. The programme, which was contributed to by talent from Hawera, New Plymouth, and local, was of a very high order, and met with the hearty appreciation of all those present. At the conclusion a dance was held in the Town Hall, which was well attended. A sumptuous supper was served by a strong committee of ladies. The Rialto Orchestra provided the music for the dances. Mr Jas. Munro carried out the duties of M.C.

On Friday evening at the Methodist Church a welcome was extended to the Rev. Mr and Mrs Flower, who have recently been appointed to the Okato end of the circuit. A programme of songs and recitations, interspersed with a number of welcome addresses, helped to pass a most pleasant evening. Supper was provided by the Ladies' Guild.
