Ninety-six summonses against freez- ' ing works employees of the Poverty Bay Meat Company, in connec- j tion with the strike which occurred at I the works^ on March 16, were heard this morning by Mr Barton, S.M. Twenty-three cases were struck out on the grounds that defendants had not participated in the strike, and in the remainder of the cases the Labour Department claimed the full penalty under the Act, £10, but "did not press for it on defendants admitting the offences. ' Each was fined £2, with 5s costs.
