MOKOIA.

HALL COMMITTEE

-The annual meeting of the Mokoia Mall Committee was held on Wednesday evening, 19th inst. Ten residents were present, Mr. A. Main occupying the chair

The balance-sheet, wh;ch showed that tile bank overdraft had been reduced by £15, was adopted. The following were elected as a committee for the ensuing year: Messrs A. Main chairman, I>. Campbell secretary and treasurer, S. Tid.swell, A. Tidswell, D. Eich£<kon, H. Weli *. S. Hunt. N. Hunt, 11. -Baldwin, J. Jones. A vote of thanks was Dased to Mr and Mrs. D. Campbell for their work in connection with the hall. It was decided to hold a social in June, similar to that held last year, a date to be arranged later by the secretary. A working bee is to be held jn the near future, when the hall will receive a much-needed coat of paint. A vote of thanks to the chairman concluded the meeting.

SOCIAL EVENING

On Thursday evening the first of the series of euchre parties was held in the hall. The hall was well filled and a very enjoyable evening was spent. The winners of the evening proved to be Mrs. W. H. Harris and Mr. L. F. Bell. The parties will be held fortnightly throughout the winter months, the nest evening being Thursday, May 4. Play will commence punctually at 7.45 p.m.', so it behoves those who ax-e anxious to compete for the points prize, to be donated at the end of the season, to be present in good time.

A CORRECTION

An error appeared in the report of the "Unfurling the Flag" ceremony held in the school grounds on Friday afternoon last. The musical education of the children was in the capable hands of Miss M. Newman, so the praise is clue to her for the creditable performance of the children on that occasion.

CHILDREN'S ROOT CROPS

On Monday afternoon Messrs Qlasson and Johnson judged the root crops in connection with the boys' and girls' dubs. Tor the Mokoia group Master J. Lee was first, K. Johnson second, and F. Clark third. Master J. Lee was third in the Han-era group. Disappointment was expressed at the small number of entries this year, and an appeal was made to the children to'give the movement greater support next year.
