STAINER'S CRUCIFIXION.

TO-NIGHT AT S fT. MARY'S.

Perhaps the best known and most beautiful of the Passion works is Sir John Stainer's Crucifixion, for two solo voices and choir, "A Meditation on the Passion of Our Lord," as it is described by the writer. Words and music are most aptly suited, and breathe a spirit of reverence throughout This beautiful work will be given at St Mary's choir this evening, the solos being taken by Mr. W. L. Hay (tenor) and Mr. R. Laurie-Cooper (bass), uoth of New Plymouth, and well known as two of the best singers of church music in that city. Other recitative parts will be taken by Messrs Uiadwick and Liddington. The wonderful choruses and chorales that abound^on the work are most beautiful and enective.

Mr. Page will be organist, and Mr. Or. A. Burgess will conduct the chorus work. The service will commence at 8 o clock, and a collection will be taken in aid of the chair funds.
