OPENING OF SEASON

A very successful opening day was held by the Hawera clubs on Saturday afternoon. The weather was delightful, and the first nine holes were in good order. There was a good attendance, and the competition was made a mixed four ball bogey of nine holes. Several good cards were put in, the best being Mrs. McLean and Lewes and Mrs. and Mr. Glasson, who were both two up on the Colonel. Aftejr afternoon tea at the house the president (Mr. G. H. Ryan), in a short and happy speech, formally declared the season open. There was a fair attendance of visitors, and altogether an enjoyable afternoon was spent.
