THE RAPPE CASE.
ARBUCKLE'S FORTUNE GONE
BY CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT
(Received March 27, 8.5 a.m.) NEW YORK, March 26
The New York World's San Francisco correspondent states that Arbuckle revealed that his private fortune had gone as a result of the tremendous expenditure for his defence. He received an ornately decorated cheque book on the occasion of his thirty-fifth birthday, and said ruefully: "I have not enough money now to write one cheque, much less the whole book full." Arbuckle was formerly a lavish spender, living in extreme luxury, but at the present time is living quietly.
