NEW ELECTRICAL PLANT. A merting of members of the Town Board, Kaponga Dairy Co., .and Chamu °j 5P^ merce TLas teld in the Town Board Office on Thursday evening to make final arrangements for the opening function in connection with the I new electrical plant. Mr P W Allen was voted to the chair, and Mr G P Cook was elected secretary * ' It was decided to issue invitations to Kaupokonui, Jolls, Mangatoki, and Awatuna Dairy Companies, Eltham and 'Opunake Power Boards, Manaia and Ojrajake Town Boards, Eltham and Stratford Borough Councils, Eltham, Waimato, Stratford, and EgrmSff County Councils, Messrs Hawkenf Masters, Dixon and Smith, M.P.'s the Mayor and engineer of New Plymouth. The function is to be advertised, especially mvitmg the general public and local dairy farmers. The date was fixed for April 12, and the function is to commence at 1.30 p.m A meeting of ladies of the district is to be called for Thursday next to take the management of the afternoon tea! tors of the Dairy Company (past and . present). ' The local speakers will consist of Mr \ \ Allen (chairman), Mr 11. G. Cook (Town Board chairman), and Mr A. V. Tait (chairman of directors), and the arrangement of the programme is to be left in the hands of the above-named gentlemen. The erection of a stage was left in Mr Moss' hands. Given a fine day the function promises to be a very big success. Everything is well in hand, and the committee are all workers, and will leave no stone unturned to make the affair ; interesting to those who are able to be • present. ': TOWN BOARD MEETING.

The monthly meeting of the Town Board was held on Thursday evening. Present: Comrs. Cook (chairman), Betts, Law, Allen, Guy, and Shepherd. The price of notice board was considered satisfactory, and the clerk was instructed to procure same at once and have it erected. Correspondence was received from Mr T. Jones in reference to the band instruments.—lt was resolved that Mr Jones be written to to the effect that the instruments are not for sale. The foreman's report was received and work mapped out for the following month. Notices are to be sent out to owners of property having hedges overgrowing footpaths to have same cut at once. The engineer's report was also received with suggestions. It was decided to advertise the Board's horse, dray, and harness for sale, as the members v consider the horse too big for the work to be done, and that a small horse be procured and a spring tip dray would be more useful. It was resolved to take action against six persons alleged to have exceeded the speed limit on the 17th. The Athletic Club asked for permission to use the park for a sports meeting on April 27.—The application was granted. The club also asked the Board to put on a special picture for the benefit of the club's funds on that night, and considerable discussion took place. The club's secretary stated that the eluff wished to raise funds to improve the i track, as it was their hope to hold a I championship meeting here in the near future.—lt was finally resolved that if the club are unfortunate in having a bad day, and the club's balance falls below what it is at present, the Board will give out of takings such sum as will bring balance back to that amount, and if not required by the club the Board will earmark same for ground improvements. j The Fire Brigade asked for the subI sidy to pay for 200 feet of new hose —Granted. The clerk was instructed to obtain the legal position of the* Board in connection with the park charges, and to report at next meeting. | Accounts amounting to £671 3s 8d were passed for payment.
