AN ALL-ROUND SPORTSMAN
Mr Tom Tatchell has been chosen as one of the Australian bowling team to visit England. Tom Tatchell comes from a sporting family; both he and his brothers could always hold their own at all games in the best of company. He was educated at Wesley College. Following his brothers, he quickly de-
veloped as a first-class footballer at ' Bendigo. Later, cbming to Melbourne, he took on cricket; he caDtained South Melbourne and Bichniond Clubs, and for the former both he and Jim Giller , made several centuries in pennant games. Later, at Richmond, he, Henry Trott, Dick Kelly, and Ingleton were the mainstays in batting. He played in three interstate cricket matches He rowed for Wesley in public school boat races in 1881. We next find him in the van as a first-class tennis player, representing Victoria in many interstate matches with Norman Brookes, Ben Green, Gus Kearney, Alf Dunlop, and JN. Bayles. One of his best performances was when he and Lycett won the Australian championship doubles. Mr Tatchell also played in first-class tennis tor upwards of 20 years. Quite recently he won the. handicap for players over 50 years of age. He is also a keen golf enthusiast. In 1919 he took a fancy to bowls, and following in the footsteps of his brother, Mr George Tatchell, he quickly became a leading player. He has already won a championship at the Heidelburg Club, and has captained the rink there in all pennant games this year. Mr Tatchell left by the Ulysses on March 18, accompanied by Mrs Tatchell.
