BRITISH POLITICS

BEVIEW OF SITUATION

PREMIER'S RESIGNATION

CONDITIONS OF WITHDRAWAL

BX CAfcLL—PBESS ASSOCIATION—COPYEIGH? [ . LONDON, March 24. ) The Daily Chronicle's special corre- > spondent, writing from Criccieth, gives p an interesting resume of the political s situation, evidently as a result of con- . sultation with Mr. Lloyd George. The correspondent denies that there has t been a crisis between the Liberals and .' the Conservatives in the Cabinet. The I crisis has been amongst Conservatives. .' The article admits that Mr. Lloyd : George resigned and then withdrew his ' resignation, but the reason was the ; adoption of the Genoa Conference as | the policy of the Coalition, which i' amounts to the reaffirmation of Con- ; servative loyalty to the Coalition. Mr. ■ Lloyd George regards the Genoa >Con- ■ ference as a key to the future, and , understands that (the Conservatives make their attachment to this principle i their main reason for asking Mr. Lloyd George to continue tne Premiership. ■ i In his letter to Mr. Chamberlain, ' withdrawing his resignation, Mr. Lloyd , George made three conditions: (1) The , Irish settlement . must be carried j through; (2) no reactionary policy must be pursued; (3) the foreign policy must • aim at peace and the disarmament of , Europe. This last is what Mr. Lloyd George means by the Genoa policy.
